The Merriest

Simple Christmas. That was my goal. And in some ways I've achieved it.  It was hot here in Houston when we pulled the decorations out and that just doesn't inspire me to get going. So I lived with the boxes for a couple of days and marinated in the hope it would turn cold for just a few days...and then it did. Now we're ready! If you're looking out a window onto a snow covered landscape... just know that I'm jealous!
A couple of Christmas details I've really enjoyed this year is a wood cubby unit that was from a gem shop. It's filled with vintage Christmas miniatures and I play with it a little bit every day.  And I found some metal ribbon. That was a first and I loved using it on  my friends gifts.
Lots of images to share the merriest decorating moments happening around here this Christmas:

Raid Your Pantry

I love sweet simple Christmas touches in the kitchen. For the holiday issue of Souvenir I put together these recycled jars and repurposed them into waterless snowglobes.

Red and white sprinkles and kosher salt were used as the "snow", along with craft store miniature trees and bells.

This is a fast and fun craft that has endless possibilities and would be fun to do with your kids.

This is my personal favorite made with a child's fork and miniature wreath.  To see more of this feature and many more,  click here to see a free preview and purchase the full holiday issue of Souvenir . Merry Christmas!

I Know I Know

C H R I S T M A S!

It's coming like a freight train. My Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram feeds are smoking with beautiful images and inspiration. And I'm still full from Thanksgiving.

One word describes how I'm approaching the decorating this year :  S I M P L E

Do you save your Anthropologie ribbon, too?  Cute for tying around grocery store rosemary trees.

Not out of laziness or a lack of Christmas spirit.  With joy we celebrate the birth of Jesus in our home.  It's because it's what my heart craves for a season that has started to feel out of control with expectations.  I know a declaration is not necessary, however ..I guess I am declaring it.

If I can do that, I will be happily connected to what really matters and enjoy the beauty of the season.

These are images I've posted on Instagram. You can follow me there @curiousdetails.
